Best games like a Jackbox night — offline (2026) — tabletop boxes for the same “everyone shouts an answer” energy when you do not want laptops, a TV, and a room code. This is not a Jackbox pack guide and not a clone of any single Jackbox mode.
Screen packs (phones, a shared display, a license) are a different product. This guide does not cover which pack to buy. Nothing below is Fibbage, Quiplash, or Drawful in a box.
Wavelength rules, because people mix the names up: how to play Wavelength. Wavelength is a spectrum party game. It is not Codenames. Codenames is a separate word-grid team game — see Codenames rules if that is what you meant. Also Telestrations rules.
Offline shout-and-guess kit
Four boxes that work with zero screens. Wavelength is the closest “read the room” feeling. It is not a Codenames SKU.
- Spectrum: Wavelength — one hidden target on a dial, teams guess the clue
- Charades engine: Monikers — names, then one word, then charades
- Draw and pass: Telestrations 8-player — sketchbook telephone for the couch
- Caption energy: What Do You Meme — photo cards plus captions, still fully offline
Pick by the feeling you wanted from the TV
- You wanted “how weird is our group’s scale?” Play Wavelength. A psychic gives a clue for a secret point on a spectrum (cold to hot, underrated to overrated). Teams turn a dial. No grid of agents, no spymaster — that would be Codenames, a different game.
- You wanted charades that get faster each round. Monikers. Same name cards, three rounds: description, one word, then silent act-out.
- You wanted drawing games. Telestrations (the 8-player pad). Sketch, pass, guess, pass. For bigger groups, look for the 12-player edition.
- You wanted caption comedy. What Do You Meme if the room is adult and opted in. It is a card table, not a streaming app.
How to run the offline night
- One box at a time. Forty minutes of Wavelength beats four half-learned games.
- 8 or more people: start with Monikers or Telestrations. Wavelength sings at about 4–10 with two teams.
- No phones on the table for Monikers round three. The joke is the bad acting, not a Google result.
- Read a three-line teach, then play a sample round worth zero points. Questions drop by half.
What we are not recommending
We are not telling you which Jackbox disc or download to buy, and we are not treating Wavelength, Monikers, or Telestrations as “the home version” of a named video mode. If you want the screen party, that is a separate purchase with its own pack numbers. This page stays on cardboard.
FAQ
Is Wavelength the same company as Codenames?
No. Different designers, different loop. If someone asks for “the spy game with one-word clues,” hand them Codenames, not the Wavelength dial.
Can these replace a TV party?
They replace the social loop — clues, bluffs, drawings — not the specific licensed prompts inside a screen pack. Set that expectation and the night works.
