Do or Drink rules (2026) — how a round actually runs, how to keep a pass honest, and when to put the deck away. This is an adults-only opt-in game. Nobody owes the table a drink or a dare.
If the room is mixed or sober-first, switch to Taco Cat or Flip 7.
The deck and the off-ramps
Do or Drink is the spicy opt-in. The other two are how you start the night without peer pressure.
- Opt-in: Do or Drink — do the card or take a sip — pass still allowed in our house rules
- No drinks required: Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza — same energy, zero alcohol
- Louder classic: King's Cup Extreme — only if the table already agreed to a drinking game
Setup
Adults who want to play sit in. Anyone who wants to watch or play a different game is not “in.” Put the do-or-drink deck in the center. Agree the drink size before card one — a sip, not a penalty pour. Agree that “pass” means skip both the do and the drink with no speech about why. If the table will not agree to a pass, do not start.
A turn
- Draw one card. Read it out loud.
- Do the action, or take the agreed sip, or pass.
- Cards that target another player still need that person’s yes. “Make Alex do it” is not consent.
- Skip any card about bodies, exes, or work if one player flinches. Bury it. Do not debate the flinch.
- The round ends at a time you set, not when the deck is gone. Forty minutes is plenty.
Host rules
- Water on the table. Food before round two.
- One sober person if anyone is actually drinking, even if they are not playing.
- No filming cards. The joke dies on a group chat the next day.
- Have Flip 7 in the same bag so you can pivot without a speech.
FAQ
Is this a drinking game or a dare game?
It is a choice game. If your group treats the sip as mandatory and the pass as cowardice, you are playing a different, worse game. Stop.
Can we play with soda?
Yes. The mechanic is the choice, not the alcohol. Say that when you teach it.
A sample teach, out loud
Say this before the first card: “Read it. Do it, sip, or pass. A pass ends your turn. You do not explain. If a card names another person, that person can refuse and the card is buried.” Then demonstrate with a card you already know is mild. If someone jokes that passes are shameful, stop the game and switch decks. You will not repair that norm mid-round.
