How to play Asshole (2026) — also called President, Scum, or Capitalism depending on your friend group. It is a climbing / shedding game with a social hierarchy between hands. You need a standard deck; drinking is optional.

Deal and roles
Deal the deck evenly (some cards may be left aside to balance). After each hand, finish order becomes titles: President (first out), Vice President, neutral ranks, and Asshole (last). Between hands, seats and card taxes often change — post your tax rules before game one.
Play
- Players play equal or higher ranked cards / sets per your climbing rules.
- Pass when you cannot or will not beat the current play.
- A round clears when everyone passes; next lead rotates per house rules.
- First to empty their hand wins the hand; last becomes Asshole.

Twos wild or not. Revolutions / mirror hands. Whether President receives the Asshole best card. Whether drinks are tied to titles. Write them. Verbal-only rules cause wars.
Title comedy without cruelty
President dealing etiquette should be silly, not humiliating. Ban personal insults as “taxes.” If a new player joins mid-session, reset titles after the next hand so they are not stuck as Asshole by accident.
Simple strategy
- Get rid of low singles early while the stakes are low.
- Hold your highest cards (and twos, if they clear the pile) for when you need to take control.
- Keep pairs and triples together. Breaking them up usually leaves you stuck at the end.
- Watch what has been played. Once the aces are gone, your kings become power cards.
- As President, do not burn everything in the first rounds. Finishing first matters more than winning every trick.

How many players?
Best at 4–7. Two-player Asshole is a different game; do not force it.
Do we need alcohol?
No. Titles alone are enough comedy. If you want a boxed prompt night instead, King's Cup Extreme or Do or Drink are published options.
