Physical Fibbage vs digital Jackbox Fibbage

Digital Fibbage needs a host device, a TV or stream, and everyone’s phones as controllers. Physical Fibbage needs a table and the people who showed up. That’s the whole pitch:

Setup

  1. Give each player a dry-erase board and marker.
  2. Shuffle the trivia cards into a draw pile.
  3. Put the voting / scoring tokens where everyone can reach them.
  4. Pick a starting Revealer (the player who reads the prompt and secretly writes the real answer). Rotate the Revealer each round.
  5. Agree you’ll play six rounds, then crown the highest score.

Phones face down. Markers uncapped. Friendships on thin ice — in a fun way.

How to play (round by round)

  1. Revealer draws a trivia card and reads the prompt aloud. The card has a real answer; only the Revealer should see / write that truth for now.
  2. Revealer secretly writes the real answer on their board (or as directed by the insert).
  3. Everyone else writes a believable fake — something that sounds true enough to steal votes. Spelling optional. Confidence mandatory.
  4. Collect, shuffle, and reveal all the answers so nobody can tell who wrote what (ideally).
  5. Everyone votes for the answer they think is the real one (using the voting tokens).
  6. Score: earn points for guessing the truth correctly and for fooling other players with your fake. Follow the insert for exact token payouts.
  7. Wipe the boards. Next player becomes Revealer. Repeat until you’ve finished six rounds.
  8. Highest score after six rounds wins.

What makes a good Fibbage lie?

The best fakes sound like something this exact friend group would believe. Too weird and everyone smells it. Too boring and nobody picks it. Aim for “plausible trivia voice” — confident, slightly specific, a little smug.

Party-host tip: ban googling even if someone “just wants to check.” The whole joke is that the truth is hiding in plain sight next to three beautiful lies.

Tips, mistakes & house energy

  • Don’t write joke answers nobody would ever pick. Funny ≠ electable. You’re hunting votes.
  • Match the prompt’s tone. A dry historical blank needs a dry fake. A spicy modern blank can handle more personality.
  • Watch handwriting tells. Shuffle hard. If your group can clock everyone’s penmanship, have the Revealer rewrite answers onto fresh scraps when needed.
  • Rotate Revealer fairly. One person shouldn’t gatekeep the truth all night.
  • Keep rounds moving. 30–45 seconds to write a fake is plenty. Overthinkers stall the vibe.
