How to Play the Ring of Fire Drinking Game

The Ring of Fire drinking game is a popular choice for any party, bringing people together for a fun and competitive experience. With simple rules and plenty of chances to get everyone involved, it’s the perfect game to break the ice or keep the energy high throughout the night.

As players take turns drawing cards and following quirky instructions, the laughter and excitement flow freely. Whether you're new to drinking games or a seasoned pro, Ring of Fire offers something for everyone.

And when you're ready to mix things up, consider adding Pick Me Up to your game night lineup. It’s a great way to keep the momentum going, with even more fast-paced challenges and fun interactions. The goal is to enjoy time with friends, create unforgettable moments, and keep the energy up with games that never get old.

How to Set Up the Ring of Fire

Setting up the Ring of Fire is simple. All you need is a deck of cards and some drinks. Here’s how you can get started:

  1. Deck of Cards: Spread a deck of cards in a circle on a flat surface. This circle will form the "Ring of Fire."
  2. Drinks: Everyone should have their own drink. It can be any type of beverage, whether alcoholic or not. Make sure there’s enough drink for everyone to keep the fun going.
  3. The Center Cup: Place one large cup in the center of the ring. This is where players will pour a bit of their drink throughout the game.
  4. Number of Players: This game works best with 4-8 people, but you can play with more if desired.

The Rules of the Ring of Fire

Now that the setup is done, let’s move on to the most exciting part the rules! Each card drawn will correspond to a specific action. Here's a breakdown of what each card means:

Ace - Waterfall

When someone draws an Ace, it’s a Waterfall. Everyone starts drinking at the same time, and the player who drew the Ace cannot stop drinking until the person to their left stops. The next player cannot stop drinking until the person to their left stops, and so on.

2 - You

If you draw a 2, you get to choose someone to drink. This is a great way to pass on the responsibility if you’re not in the mood to drink.

3 - Me

Drawing a 3 means you have to drink. This is simple enough and keeps things moving quickly.

4 - Floor

When a 4 is drawn, the last person to touch the floor with their hand must drink. It’s fast-paced, so be ready!

5 - Guys

If a 5 is drawn, all the guys in the circle must drink. This rule only applies to the male players.

6 - Chicks

A 6 means all the female players must drink. It’s another fun way to get people to interact and keep the game moving.

7 - Heaven

If you draw a 7, everyone must point to the ceiling. The last person to do so has to take a drink.

8 - Mate

When an 8 is drawn, you pick a mate. From this point on, whenever you drink, your mate has to drink too.

9 - Rhyme

A 9 means it’s time to rhyme. The player who draws the 9 says a word, and the next player must come up with a word that rhymes with it. This continues until someone can’t think of a rhyme, and they drink.

10 - Categories

Drawing a 10 means you must pick a category, such as types of fruit, car brands, etc. Players will take turns naming items from the category. If someone can’t think of one, they must drink.

Jack - Never Have I Ever

A Jack calls for Never Have I Ever. The player who drew the card shares something they’ve never done, and anyone who has done that thing must drink.

Queen - Question Master

When a Queen is drawn, the player becomes the Question Master. If anyone answers a question asked by the Question Master, they must drink. The Question Master can keep asking questions until they choose to stop.

King - Pour

The King card means you pour a little bit of your drink into the center cup. The fourth player who draws a King has to drink whatever is in the center cup, which will likely be a mix of everyone’s drinks.

Playing the Game: Best Tips for Fun

Here are a few tips to keep the game flowing smoothly and make it more enjoyable for everyone:

  1. Keep It Lighthearted: The main goal of Ring of Fire is to have fun, not to get too serious. Make sure everyone’s comfortable, and no one feels pressured to drink more than they want.
  2. Respect Limits: If someone chooses not to drink alcohol, make sure they’re included without being forced to drink. You can always adapt the rules for non-alcoholic drinks or make it a fun challenge with water.
  3. Stay Hydrated: It’s always a good idea to keep some water around to balance out the drinks and prevent anyone from feeling too much of the effects.
